Great day yesterday at Day 1 of Licensing Expo. We saw some old brands and some new brands. Old friends and new friends. Disney is re-invigorating Mickey, which we liked seeing. We also saw a new brand like Chu the Peak Mouse, that is looking for representation to develop into a world-wide animated series. Transformers took over the outside of the Luxor and Tony Curtis was signing autographs promoting his new line of products.
We were most impressed with the marketing used to promote the show via social media. Advanstar, the company that runs Licensing Expo, produced a great integrated program including: flyers in their badge registration packages promoting live tweeting, a monitor at the entrance to the show displaying the live tweeting, and a contest giving out an iTouch to those who participated just prior to the show by promoting the show via social media. Yours truly won the iTouch, by promoting their registration drive on Twitter.
There’s no doubt Social Media is ripe for supporting marketing programs within the licensing industry — and Savvy has a deep toe hold to support those efforts having had many years of experience ourselves in marketing and licensing big brands like: MTV, VH1, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen and HBO.
We’re hitting the ground running today with many meetings with Agents & Brands. Follow us live on Twitter at @MktgMavn and @Population10 to see our updates on today’s show.
