The Savvy Integration Awards™

Savvy is getting ready to make a few big announcements in the next few weeks.

But in the meantime, we’d like to introduce the Savvy Integration Awards™. Right now, we’ll be giving out the Savvy Integration Awards™ out from time to time for campaigns that incorporate social media well into an overall marketing initiative — the 360° approach, if you will — at least by our standards. But stay tuned…in the next year we’re going to be reaching out to our community for submissions. So, in the meantime, if you find a good campaign, send it our way.

But in the interim, here’s a sampling of what we found this week.

The first ever Savvy Integration Award™ goes to MTV (one of our previous employers)…and they’ll stop at nothing to satisfy their advertisers for the upcoming VMAs. Impressive!  Read this article from Ad Age on MTV’s newest branding opportunity… Would love to know your thoughts.

This weeks’ runner up for this week’s Savvy Integration Award™ goes to TGI Fridays. If you didn’t catch one of the on-air spots this week for their “Fan Woody” campaign, they are trying to get to a half-million fans on Facebook by the end of September (they’re at about 284,000 right now and I just registered) and offered a Free Jack Daniel’s burger to all who register between now and the end of the promotion.

Vitamin Water™. I dig it. I drink it. They launched a new app called Flavor Creator on Facebook this week to crowdsource. So if you’re unfamiliar with the term crowdsourcing…it’s kind of like focus grouping…but online. The actual definition from wiki was coined by Jeff Howe of Wired magazine: “The term has become popular with business authors and journalists as shorthand for the trend of leveraging the mass collaboration enabled by Web 2.0 technologies to achieve business goals”. Ok, I’d still like to think of it as a big Web 2.0 focus group. Anywho, go check it out on Facebook. Just type Flavorcreator in search and go to the app. Let me know what you think.

And lastly, on a totally unrelated but important note…today is 9/11. And in the words of Barack Obama, our Commander and Chief, “Every Year On This Day, We Are All New Yorkers.”
